Life Lost.

Death.  It's undeniable.  It's unavoidable. It's unpredictable.

I haven't ever really had to deal with a death in direct relation to me.  But today I found out that a friend has finally passed away after her long struggle with cancer.

It's hard no matter who it is, where they came from or their age.  But this just has left me crippled with grief today.  It's been a rollercoaster ride.

I knew this day would come.  Several months ago Lisa decided to end her fight with cancer and no longer do chemo treatments.  After being diagnosed at 13 years old and fighting for so long she just was tired.  I wore my bracelets religiously for her.  "Hope for Lisa", "Hope for Harder" they read.  That is what we all have been doing for so long.  Hoping for Lisa Harder.

She was recently crowned as homecoming queen at her high school.  She was then on known as the queen.  And a queen she was.

After 4 years of surgeries and treatments she lost to cancer.  She never got to drive a car, she never got to get married, have kids, she never got to live her life!

It kills me.  So young.

I will be making a special trip to Oregon for her funeral.

May You Forever Rest In Peace Lisa!

Pumpkin Pie Cookies!

So EVERYONE that has tried my Pumpkin Pie Cookies always rants and raves about them!  So I decided I would post the recipe for all to read how it's done!

I meant to take more pictures of step by step BUT... After I was all done I realized I forgot most of it.  I tell ya once I get into the baking zone I am just zoned in on what I'm doing and making sure I'm measuring everything out right so sorry for not having step by step pictures.  Next time I make them I promise to add more pics!

~Hollyween Queen's Pumpkin Pie Cookies~

Ingredients-
*1/4 cup butter, softened (1/2 stick)
*1 cup white sugar
*1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
*1 egg
*1 tsp ground cinnamon
*1/4 tsp nutmeg
*1/4 tsp ground cloves
*1/4 tsp salt
*1 tsp vanilla extract
*1/2 box french vanilla instant pudding mix
*2 tbsp milk
*1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
*1 tsp baking powder

Mix together the butter, sugar, pumpkin, egg, spices, salt, vanilla and milk.  I happened to use my KitchenAid mixer this time but I have also used a hand held mixer too and they both work just fine.

In a second bowl mix flour, baking powder and pudding mix.  Add dry ingredients to pumpkin mixture.  Stir until smoothly incorporated.  Spoon batter onto a GREASED (don't miss that step... super important!) baking sheet, using heaping tablespoons for portions.

Bake at 350 degree's for 10-13 minutes depending on your oven.  I always start with the lower number and then do the toothpick test.  If the toothpick comes out clean they're finished if not pop them back in for a little bit longer.  They are a soft cookie so they might look soft/doughy but I promise as long as the toothpick comes out clean then they're done.

My husband likes them with milk.  I can seriously eat these things all day.  That is why I don't bake them to often because they're not good for my waistline.  :) enjoy!

Army Wives.

So I am a huge fan of the hit TV show Army Wives on Lifetime.  Today I had the opportunity to meet with the producers and writers of the show.

-Rewind to last week.-

My friend Angel (who's husband is in Justin's squadron) sends me a text asking if Justin told me about the show Army Wives looking for families, Airmen and spouses to interview them about their experiences in the Air Force.  My lovely husband of course didn't tell me about this, so I texted him asking about it and he didn't give me much details -GO FIGURE-.  So Angel's husband so kindly forwarded the email to me and I asked Justin if he would call the MSgt that was in charge. My oh so sweet -SARCASM- husband told me NO!  Total JERK.  He didn't "feel" like calling for me.  SOOOO I took it upon myself to email him and was thankful that I was selected to be one of five in my husband rank group to be interviewed.

-Fast forward back to today-

We showed up at 1pm and was split into different groups upon rank.  Officer wives went in one room, Tech Sgt wives went into another and then the E1-E5 went into another.  We had 3 Ssgt wives, my friend Angel's husband is a Senior Airman and then me being the lowest ranking wife (Justin is an A1C) there.  Then in walked the Army Wives people.  My group actually had "The Boss" (or that is what they called him).  He was the Executive Producer.  That was awesome!  We also had three writers, one of which was in the Army himself and a Colonel in the Air Force that is the DoD liaison for the show.

They started us out by going around the table and talk about their accomplishments.  They all named off big shows that they produced/wrote for.  For example West Wing and the show Alias.  That was pretty impressive!  Then we got the chance to introduce ourselves and tell our husbands rank, their jobs, where we are from, how old we are, how many kids we have and so on.  After that they touched back with people that they wanted to elaborate more on things. We went into depths really on everything.  They also wanted to know about what it is like to live on a joint base.  I was really surprised about how all the wives handled themselves and didn't base on the Army.  There is obviously tension between the different branches most days but the ladies I was with didn't mention that at all.

After the meeting Angel and I got to take a picture with the executive producer.  I would share it but I look absolutely HORRIBLE!  You know when they say the camera adds 10lbs well today the camera gave me 50lbs!  Anywho Angel and I were jokingly told Jeff (the EP) that we were available to start coming on the show to be the new stars and he gave us his business card and told us if we were ever in Charleston SC to give him a call and he would get us on the set.  We just kind of giggled and he said "No really just give me a call and we will get you on there."  We were thrilled! :)

We also got a little scoop on what to expect on the show.  I know there is going to be a BIG bomb being dropped on everyone on episode 1 but they didn't give us further details.  But we have been told which characters to expect to be phasing out of the show.

Anywho I'm off to go kick my hubby's butt at marbles!

Mommy Time!

Holy cow my son was being quite the handful today!  Let me tell you what.  Teething sucks.  He doesn't have any teeth that have came through yet but I can see them under the gums.

Other than being haunted by the teething monster today was quite interesting. One big thing that happened was I got my shoe filled with dog puke!  No joke!  The UPS man rang the doorbell while Brodey (our black lab) was chewing his bone.  Apparently he must have inhaled some chunks of bone and it started making him choke.  And when he finally was able to get it up.. He puked it up... and everything else in his stomach right into my shoe that was sitting by the front door!  Talk about disgusting!

I've been trying to lay off Pinterest for a while because I cannot stop pinning things I want to do with my house, make for dinner or craft!  It actually stresses me out because I don't have endless amounts of money that I need in order to be able to afford everything I want to do.  I need a money tree to start growing in my backyard.

Tomorrow I get to meet with the producers and writers of the hit TV show Army Wives.  I'll blog about how that all goes tomorrow but I am pretty excited.  They sent out a email to Justin's squadron... and probably others as well saying they're looking for families and spouses to talk about their Air Force lives and experiences.  I know that the show is going to a "joint base" like what I live on now (Joint Base Lewis McChord) so I think they're looking for what it's like living with two different military branches on one base.  I can't wait to see what stories they come up with based upon what they learn from us.

And last but not least!  I tortured my little man while at Walmart today!  I couldn't resist!  My husband wasn't thrilled when he was sent the pictures, but hey I have to do this to him while I can!

Alright well that's all for now!

TTYL!

Starting Over.

Welp.  My first attempt at blogging went down the drain.  So I am starting over.  I deleted all my previous posts that I had written before which weren't many so don't feel like you missed something epic.

I decided I wanted to start blogging because well... I feel like sometimes I have a lot to say.  I plan to blog about things on Pinterest that I try such as recipes, crafts and what not.  And also my weight loss journey.

I tell ya after having a baby I thought I'd be back to a rockin body (I never had one to begin with but compared to what I have now, what I had then was HOT!) within like 6 months!  Well going on 8 and a half months later and I am STILL not back down to that 147lbs I started at pre pregnancy.

I vowed to myself over a bowl of cereal with my cell phone in hand looking at pinterest chicks with hot bods that October is my month to get my backside on track.  So I started October 1st!  I weighed in at 158lbs... GASP... and I told myself that by October 31st I will have lost 5lbs.  Well as of Friday morning (October 5th) I was down to 155lbs.  BUT with this past weekend I ate like an oinker!  So tomorrow i'm back at it.  If I can drop 3lbs in a matter of days from calorie counting, walking and running.  I can easily work off 5lbs!  Now the hard part is keeping it off right?  Right!

It is so easy to just go eat a quick cookie instead of trying to think about whipping up something healthy.  But I'm going to try!  Hence another reason for blogging again.  I feel that I with blogging I will be held accountable to write on here about my weight loss SUCCESS... Because it will be just that!

So on to something else important that I want to mention in this first blog post.

I just finished reading a pretty awesome book.  If you liked The Hunger Games, you'll LOVE this.  Divergent by Veronica Roth.  It is a book that captured my attention from the beginning!  I loved it!  And totally suggest it to anyone and everyone.  I want to know what happens in the second book Insurgent but I'm trying to wait on buying it since money doesn't grow on tree's when you have a husband in the military!

Anywho that's all for now on my new blog post!
